Dating..? What to wear?

Hey guys! Ugh, sorry it's been a while since I have been on here. I've been going through some stuff with my boyfriend and have just been keeping to myself. After 2 years with him, I have been feeling like I need a break..just some time to myself to evaluate how I feel and our relationship.

With that being said..I do have a date for this Saturday. I have never...NEVER..been on a date before in all my life. I have no idea what to wear, how to do my make-up, or how to act. I'm already nervous thinking about how it will go with me being hard-of-hearing and him being fully hearing (he is aware of my hearing problem). I have learned to still be myself and relax but it still makes me nervous. I'm not sure what he has planned yet but today I went out and bought a new pair of jeans. They're dark, bootcut, and sexy fitted in all the right places. I think I'm going to wear black flats with them. I am just unsure of what top I should wear. I don't want to wear anything too trendy or too bright and bold. I saw one shirt today and all I could think was that he would run away if he saw me walking towards him in it..LOL. So now I'm on the hunt for a shirt.

I am going to curl my hair with a 1 inch curling iron and probably pin my bangs back. I love it that way. For make-up, I'm going to keep it fresh. Should I wear shimmery or matte eye shadow? Liquid, pencil or no eyeliner? Decisions, decisions!

That's all for today. I hope to get back to blogging regularly soon!

What's in my weekend/fresh look make-up bag?

Hey everyone! Happy hump day!
Today I wanted to do a blog on what I keep in my make-up bag. This is typically what's in my bag on weekends when I sleep over my boyfriend's house, or when I stay out at a girlfriend's and I know the next day I just want to look fresh. I also do this look when I want minimal make-up
Displaying Photo.jpg
My bag is a small cloth leopard print zip around make-up bag from Wal-mart. Nothing special but it's cute and fits quite a bit.
Displaying Photo.jpg
For my eyes I use the Garnier Anti-dark circle roller. I apply it under my eye to get rid of bags and dark circles and I also apply it to my eyelid to even out the color and make them appear brighter.
Displaying Photo.jpg
I apply Maybelline Color Tattoo in Barely Branded OR the lightest color from Wet N Wild's trio in Walking on Eggshells. I don't like them both together so I just pick one. I always carry both because they are my go-to products for brightening up my eyes.
I line only my lower waterline with Rimmel's Scandal Eyes pencil in Nude.
I curl my lashes with my Revlon curler and then apply mascara. I use L'oreal's Voluminous and Maybelline The Falsies. Both in black of course! For that extra oomph! I curl my lashes after I apply mascara as well!
Displaying Photo.jpg
For my face I keep it VERY simple! I usually moisturize with any light weight lotion. I typically carry Vaseline with Aloe (not pictured because it's in my purse).
I apply my all time favorite powder, Maybelline Dream Matte Powder. I love this product I'm so sad they discontinued it!
I lightly apply bronzer using NYC bronzer in Sunny. This is a great all over matte bronzer.
I apply them both with this big brush from ELF (the $1 line).
Displaying Photo.jpg
For my lips I like a pink lip gloss. Nothing too bright, but nothing nude. I like to bring out my lips as I feel that's one of my best features. Also, while keeping the eyes bright and low key, you can play up the lips to make the look pop and make you appear more put together.
I usually use either C.O Bigelow (bath&bodyworks) Tinted Mentha Chapstick in Baby Pink Mint or Mary Kay lip gloss in Berry Sparkle.

That's all for today. I hope you enjoyed my routine. Let me know what you do to keep it fresh and simple!

Make-up Monday!

Hey everyone! Happy Monday! I apologize for the lack of post yesterday, I got caught up with some things around my house. Don't worry, I have a post for you today! As I was laying in bed last night fighting with my dog for more blanket, I was thinking about my blog and things to post and I have decided that Monday's posts are going to be called 'Make-up Monday'. Every Monday I am going to aim to post either a make-up look, a product I own and love or hate, or a product that I want. This post will be the first of Make-up Monday!
Displaying photo 3.JPG
So today I was playing around with some make-up and I came up with this pale pink, gray/black smokey look with heavy winged liner (unplanned) and a nude lip. I used a light pink and gray from my BH Cosmetics 120 5th edition palette. Then I used a shimmery blue mixed with black from an old Sephora palette on the outer and blended it into the crease. For the crease I also used a peachy brown from a L'oreal quad as well as the white color in it for a little brow bone highlight. [Sorry for not having pics I totally wasn't thinking it through- #newbie-blogger-probs]
Displaying photo 2.JPGDisplaying photo 1.JPGI was going to enter this into the BH Cosmetics Valentines Day contest but I decided not to because I'm not that happy with it for it to be in a contest. I feel the pink showed up too light because I didn't use a white base and I'm not too happy with the eyeliner.

This look was fun to create! Not so fun to take off lol I love just playing with make-up sometimes to see what I come up with. I do not normally wear looks this dramatic. I like the way I feel in it though so I could definitely rock it out somewhere!

Let me know what you'd like to see for next Monday!
Thanks for reading =)

Late Night Bloggin'..

So, it's 11:41 Saturday night and i'm at home wide awake. I'm sitting here in my pajamas looking up pictures of Cheryl Cole's hair ..that gorgeous deep red that she dyed it in 2010 (I think?).  I'm really itching to do something different with my color and my last post about my hair just made me think of it even more.
I actually found an article that says she went DIY (<-Click that to read it!) and used boxed dye! YAY! Well not really (some people cringe at the thought of boxed dye) but there are so many celebs that always go to their stylist and spend obnoxious amounts to get their hair that perfect shade. Sure if I was a baller like that I'd get my hair done on the daily. It's cool that she just did it herself and we can easily find the color instead of struggling to match it to a stylist.

I have gotten highlights once or twice when I was 16. It looked good but I hated the up keep. I actually enjoy dying my hair at home. Last summer I experimented with auburn all over but it was too light so I dyed it dark brown and did burgundy underneath. Then one day I got ballsy and did my own blonde highlights in my side bangs. I don't mind experimenting with my hair but I do get frustrated if it doesn't come out how I imagine. Like when I did the blonde myself I hid in the bathroom for an hour with royal purple shampoo on that part of my hair to tone it down because it was so brassy and slightly orange! For the next week I was trying to tone it with an ash dye and purple shampoo. It worked great just took some time. I wish I had a good pic of my hair on my laptop but they were all on my old iPhone that I didn't back up. =( #iphoneproblems

I don't know what I should do with my hair. I think Cheryl's color would look good on me. The problem right now is that in a week I take a big test to get my nursing license and after that I will be looking for a job so I need to remain professional looking. I personally don't think there is anything unprofessional about her hair color. To me it says she's fun, quirky and willing to be herself regardless of judgement. I want people to think that about me just by my hair color!
Hey, a girl can dream ! zZzZz And on that note I'm going to end this.

Goodnight all my beautiful fellow bloggers.
Be on the look out for a new post tomorrow later today because it's now 12:07 which makes it Sunday!

Favorites to kick off February!

Happy February everyone!! <3 I really don't like February, nothing too exciting going on, but it does bring us a few weeks closer to spring =) I can't wait for warm weather and pretty flowers blooming everywhere. I live in NJ and the weather has been crazy crazy! We still have a chance of more snow this week and next weekend..well either snow or flooding rain depending upon which weather man you watch.

To kick of this brand new month (and the Superbowl - go Seahawks!) I thought I'd do a post on my favorite every day hair treatments. Along with the new month and weather changes, comes hair issues..for me, anyway. First a little bit about my hair so you can compare if you have the same type. I have long dark brown hair that is thick but my strands are fine (if that makes sense). It used to be naturally super curly but now it is its own type of wavy. For some reason as I got older my hair flattened out on top and since it decided to be a jerk to me I discovered a flat iron. I've been straightening my hair for a few years now so I'm sure that contributes to its non-curly state today. At times its dry and super frizzy and other times (like when I try to go without washing for two days) it turns into a gross oily mop on my head - okay I'm exaggerating a little but close enough.

This is how I typically wear my hair, curled/waved with the curling iron. I feel it's most flattering and easy to do on my hair.

The following two are my holy grail products for giving me a soft, shiny and healthy hair. I swear by them both.

Uniq One is an all in one treatment with 10 different effects (kind of like It's a 10 product). I bought this from my hair salon for $18. Well worth it! It promises the following:
1 Repair dry, damaged hair
2 Shine and frizz control
3 Heat protection
4 Silkiness and Smoothness
5 Hair color protection
6 Easier brushing and ironing
7 Detangler
8 Long lasting hairstyle
9 Split end prevention
10 Adds Body

It does all of that! I swear! I put it in my hair after I get out of the shower. First I slightly towel dry my hair just to rid it of excess water then spray this all over concentrating on my ends. Then I comb through my hair. It makes it ridiculously tangle free. After I just decide how I'm wearing my hair that day and go from there! I heard there is a new one out with coconut and I'm just dying to get my hands on it but it seems to only be in other countries not the US =( BOO!

CHI Silk Infusion is an oil that creates awesome shine, softness and a heat protectant. A little bit goes a long way with this bad boy. Apply a small amount at a time. My hair, since my strands are fine, can get greasy/oily very quickly so I can't handle a lot of this product. I use this after I blow dry or style my hair. It's a great finisher. This is a little pricey. It's about $25 for a bottle of this size. I actually got an awesome deal on this at target and it was 2 bottles for the price of one. I definitely had to splurge and get it. (I typically do not spend money on higher end hair products)

When I run out of these products, I will be buying both again for sure! I can't wait to find the Uniq One in coconut I can only imagine how wonderful it is! I recommend giving these both a try! If you do, of if you use these now, let me know what you think =)

Woot or Poot: Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser

This is my first review post. I'm trying to come up with a catchy name..like Sam Schuerman used to have Friday Favorites and Fudgeroos but now she has Sunday Sizzles and Fizzles; WhatWouldLizzyDo has her Woops and Womps!; and Melissa Raymond (Melmphs) has Friday Favorites and a Possible Poo. Those are all creative catchy names that really draw people in and make it more fun. I like Woot or Poot but I feel like I can come up with something better. Help me think..Any and all recommendations will be taken into consideration!!! =)

So let's get started girlfriends!
I've been seeing this primer all over the internet and really wanted to try it. I've actually never used a primer before so I wasn't too sure what it would be like. Typically I just moisturize then apply my favorite BB cream (Dream BB by Maybelline). I was really curious about this product. The name is actually what got me. Baby Skin. It sounds kind of weird..but then it sounds like it would be soooo smoooooth and soft, so how could anyone not try it?! I picked mine up at Target for $5.99. That's definitely a good price for this type of product when I know that there are primers triple that price. The packaging is really cute. It's a blue tube with pink writing. Very eye catching of course.

It has .67 oz of product. It claims to instantly erase the appearance of pores. The product comes out thick and clear. Let me just say now..a little bit goes a long way! You do not need a lot of this product!!! I may or may not have learned that the hard way..LOL

[Side note: A lot of youtubers are comparing this to the Benefit Porefessional, I can't comment about the comparison because I do not own the Benefit one..just sayin'.]
Anyway, I don't have large or very noticeable pores. Unless you're invading my personal space, you wont see them but, I know they're there. When I first applied this, I took too much and ended up with a greasy mess on my face! It was gross. I had to wash my face and try again. The second try was much better. I applied a very small amount on my finger and dotted it on and around my nose, and my forehead as well. It's seriously as smooth as butter. It doesn't really rub in like it felt as if it was sitting on top of my skin..which obviously it was but I guess I expected it to..sink in? or something. It covered the appearance of the pores on my face as soon as I applied it! AWESOME! It also created a nice smooth base to apply any other makeup over. I wouldn't recommend using this by itself. I have tried it two ways. One way using it as a base and applying my BB cream and powder over top. The second way by itself and some powder over top. I do not like it alone it needs a foundation or something to stick to it.

I highly recommend this product to anyone looking for a cost effective and great primer! Not only will this fit the budget of the makeup hoarding non working college girl or recent graduate (like myself) but also the working woman who enjoys high end products but maybe doesn't want to dish out the money just for a primer.

Thank you Maybelline for not only making my holy grail BB cream but, now for making this my go to daily product as well.

Thanks for stopping by and reading my blog. Hope you all enjoyed it!

Why I'm Blogging!

Hey everyone. I've had so much free time lately that I've done nothing but watch beauty videos and read blogs..well now I figured that I should start my own blog. I've been going through some things in life this past year and writing has been my outlet. I just write to myself sometimes before I go to bed to release my feelings and go to sleep with a somewhat clear mind. I've also been doing my makeup and what not more than I used to. Those have been a part of what makes me happy every day.

So WELCOME! and here on my blog you will find my rants/raves/reviews about anything and everything..from my cup of coffee in the morning to my lipgloss..I'm undecided if I should keep this strictly beauty/whatever things or if I should include things on days I write to clear my mind. What do you think ?!
